South Dakota-based public utility company Black Hills Corp. has entered into an agreement with its Wyoming subsidiary, Black Hills Energy, to provide bitcoin mining operations in Cheyenne, Wyo .. for at least five years.


This agreement is the first service company agreement under the Blockchain Interruptible Service tariff, which it first demanded in 2018. The cost was approved by the Wyoming Public Service Commission in 2019.


Under the tax code, customers who are able to break the power at the discretion of the utility company will receive a $ 2 per kilowatt-hour debt adjustment - an agreement similar to the relationship between the Texas crypto miners and the Texas Electric Reliability Council (ERCOT). ).

Black Hills Energy will provide up to 75 megawatts of electricity for mining, which, once operated, will be one of Wyoming's largest mining operations, according to a company press release.
