MARKETPLACE INTENDS TO PRIORITIZE STORYTELLING BY ALLOWING NFT CREATORS TO DESIGN CUSTOMIZABLE DROP PAGES

OpenSea, a digital marketplace for crypto collectibles and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), has launched a new initiative to make it easier for creators to create and distribute NFTs on its marketplace.

As part of this new immersive initiative, creators will be able to launch their NFT collections on their own customizable and dedicated pages, which the company hopes will allow for greater visibility and discoverability on the new marketplace homepage. On customizable drag-and-drop pages, creators will now be able to share images and videos, provide team highlights, outline plans, and more. According to the notification:

“The drop page will include information about the drop, the minting schedule, the countdown, and of course — the NFT gallery. We will also allow collectors to set up email alerts or add to their calendar to remind them when to return to the mint.”

Project drops on OpenSea will also have access to SeaDrop, a new secure open-source smart contract that will make it easier to work with the drop and save creators the time and technicalities of creating their own smart contracts. OpenSea shared:

"Creating a secure smart contract that can orchestrate multi-stage drops is one of the most critical and technically complex elements, and creators can now skip this step entirely with SeaDrop."

In August, Cointelegraph reported that OpenSea volume had plummeted with a massive drop in daily and monthly transactions on the platform. The market went from processing $405.75 million worth of transactions on May 1st to processing only $5 million worth of NFT transactions on August 28th.
